There is something quietly magical about a wedding in the rain. We had the honour of documenting an intimate elopement at the Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Vancouver, where a light drizzle softened the day and wrapped every moment in a poetic calm.
Under the overcast sky, the garden came alive with rich colour and texture. Moss covered stone pathways glistened, willow branches moved gently in the breeze, and koi ponds reflected the sky in muted silver tones. The rain brought a peaceful stillness to the space as tiled roofs echoed with soft droplets and the paths darkened with moisture, making the garden feel even more secluded and serene.
Rather than interrupting the day, the rain became part of the story, adding depth and emotion that no sunshine could replace.

Protected by the winding covered corridors, the couple moved slowly through the garden, letting the pace of the day match the atmosphere around them.

As vows were exchanged near the pavilion, the sound of rain became a subtle backdrop, adding depth and emotion rather than distraction. Every glance and quiet smile felt more intimate in the hush of the weather.
We found beauty in the details. Reflections in the ponds, softened light filtering through the mist, and the rich textures of wood and stone created a timeless setting for their portraits. The rain did not interrupt the day. It elevated it.

This elopement was a reminder that meaningful moments do not depend on perfect weather. They come from presence, connection, and a place that holds space for something truly special.
